Last day of school gift
Today when I subbed in a 6th grade class they received the cutest gifts! They each got to choose a book and then they got a pillow with a pocket. In the pocket they got the book of their choice (mostly one of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series), a cute book mark and a fabric marker (so their classmates could sign their pillows or as the librarian suggested, so they could write the titles of the books they've read). They were all so excited about them! I need to remember this for my own students!

Edible Science!
My science professor posted a link to this fantastic way to test students' knowledge of the phases of the moon. Using oreo cookies have them shape the phase they are given. This is super fun!!! I love it : )
Check it out at: http://www.sciencebob.com/blog/?p=828
and while you are there check out the other fantastic science stuff he has!

"All about me" quilt
Getting to know your students activities seem to be so frequently repeated that I couldn't help but get excited when I heard about this new idea(or at least new to me idea). Get enough flash cards/note cards for your whole class, one per student. Hole punch the edges, two holes on each side, be sure to hole punch all four edges. Give each student one of these flash card, doesn't matter what size but they should all be the same size. Have them write their name in the middle and then write as many facts as they can fit on the flash card. Feel free to let them decorate them, the more individualized the better. :) Then take string and "sew" them together edge to edge forming a quilt of note cards. It is quite easy to then add new students if you gain any through-out the year.
Activity sticks for fidgity students
I love this idea from this blog! http://www.scribd.com/doc/53389082/Class-Activities
These are activity sticks. When your students start get restless draw one of the these and do the activity for 1 minute. Such and easy and fun way to get students up and moving and then refocused. I love this! I can't wait to use this in my classroom.
